“A-Ahh, N.” She smiled. “I’m fine. How about you?”

“Hey guys!” She waved cheerily.

“A-Ah.. Today’s White Day..”

He studies her for a moment, unsure, but as Zoroark and Archeops approach them, he nods again and smiles again. He isn’t sure if White really is okay, but he has a feeling that even if she isn’t, she wouldn’t admit it to him. “All right, then. Hm… I’ll see you soon, then?”

White nodded, summoning her Braviary. She mounted ontop of the huge Pokemon. “Yeah, see you soon N.” 

After she was a few feet in the air, she smiled and waved. “Night N!”

He looks at the sky, thoughtful for a moment. A small cry called his attention and, blinking, he noticed Archeops and Zoroark looking at him, clearly sleepy He smiles and stands up as well, nodding a little. “Yes, I suppose so. My friends seem to be tired. Ah-… Are you alright?”

White nodded. “Y-Yes! I’m okay now, really.” She gave him an encouraging smoile, standing up after him.

He looks at their fingers, taken aback by the idea that such a small gesture meant something so important. Something more sacred than normal promises… This most definitely was very, very important.

“Ah… I promise you’ll be the first to know if… something like that happens.” He says, his tone serious as he meets her gaze again.

White smiled, letting go. “Good.” She stood up, staring at the night sky. “Don’t you think we should be getting home?”

His eyes grow wide, amazement clear in his face as she explains the santity of the Pinkie Promise. It sounds almost scary - What happens if you break a Pinkie Promise? - but he trusts her. She wouldn’t be asking him to make this Promise if it was something dangerous.

“Alright.” He nods, decidedly, and hesitantly raises his hand, looping his finger around hers. “… Like this?”

White held in her laughter as she watched his reaction. N was so cute- his reaction was that of a child. She smiled as he looped his finger around hers. “Yup, just like that.”

N’s smile grew as her own seemed a little more genuine, and as she carefully took his hand in hers. He’s still not entirely comfortable with the touch, but if it makes her happy… Well, he can get used to it.

He blinks, confused as she holds up her pinkie finger, his gaze going between her hand and her face. “No, what is that…?”

“Its even more sacred than a regular promise.” White leans in, pretending to get intense. “You absolutely, have to keep a pinkie promise!” She nodded, holding up her index finger, waggling it. “It’s that important.”

White giggled, extending her pinkie again. “So? A pinkie promise? Just loop your pinkie finger around mine.”

Surprised by the request, he studies her for a moment, thoughtful. He didn’t understand why she was asking this - But then again, he didn’t understand much about these feelings, so maybe it had something to do with it.

“Alright, I promise.” He finally agreed, nodding. There was something about her smile that seemed forced, and he couldn’t quite shake the feeling that he had something to do with it. Still, he doubted she would tell him what was wrong…

Carefully, he raised his hand as if to touch her, hesitating before very slowly, very gently, he placed his hand over hers and gave her a small smile.

N’s gesture brought a red color to tint White’s cheeks. She slowly took his hand in hers, her fingers way smaller than his. 

I can’t help but find it sad that we’re holding hands as friends.

She smiled softly back at him. “Good, its a promise.” White let go and held up her pinkie finger. “Do you know what a pinkie promise is?”
